 A society that is poorly governed suffers a lot. The leaders are not responsible in serving the citizens. The leaders use their position in the government to only benefit themselves at the expense of the citizens. In so doing, the citizens suffer a lot as illustrated below from Parliament of Owls by Adipo Sidang.

The Members of Parliament determine who lives and dies especially those in opposition. Money Bags plans with One - Eyed to take Arum Tidi to Water Stone Point and leave him. there to die because he knows a lot of secrets concerning the Parliament of owls. In pursuit of the cunning bird, thirty three weavers of Osogo's family are massacred. The Parliament of Owls led by Money Bags also plan to assassinate Oyundi, the Fire tinch, as she had become a thom in their flesh due to her agitation for freedom. This makes the birds to live in fear to the point that no one wants to speak against the loyal royal owls. 

The parliament makes and breaks laws with most of the laws favoring the loyal owls. Red String appears before dusk and starts hooting and when questioned by Osogo, he clearly states that they are immune to the laws and those laws apply with exceptions of the royal owls on special missions. The Moonlight Law is introduced that bans the other birds from twittering to their young ones in the moonlight and flying from tree to tree. This denies the other birds or rather citizens a chance to enjoy their freedom and rights in the Birds Kingdom.

The members of parliament use propaganda and deceit in their ruling. The enemies to the Birds Kingdom are just a creation of conspiracy by Money Bags. The conspiracy is created so as to easily convince the other birds into accepting the numerous laws that are added into the constitution. Red String says that Python was thrown out of the Kingdom for the safety of the birds yet the parliament is using them as the hangman. The same enemies are welcome to night feasts where they feed on the flesh of the birds.  

The parliament of owls practices intimidations and blackmails. Red String intimidates Tel Tel by blackmailing him that he has no choice but to agree to propagate propagandas. That he is a traitor in the eyes of the grain eaters and day birds. He says that they will ensure that his fellow daybirds learn about him as they lock him up in treason. He tells Tel Tel to choose wisely and convince others. Tel Tel ends up in prison

In summary, bad leadership leads to the suffering of the citizens.

 When power is misused by those in authority to advance their agenda and for self gain it leads to widespread problems for  the society. This essay will explore how Sidang highlights the negative effects of authority when it is misused, focusing on the impact on both individuals and the community. Money Bags uses the advantage of being the right-hand Owl of the Royal Owl to enrich himself. He is in charge of sponsoring all the bills forwarded by the Royal Owl .He is critical in decision making in the government of the royal owl.
