Character analysis of Oyundi the schemer

The clever bird


 Arum Tidi, who works as a spokesperson for Royal Trees and strongly supports birds that eat during the day and feed on grains,  promotes the Moonlight Bill to the kingdom's birds (pg 21). However, later on, we discover that despite appearing loyal to the rulers, he secretly aids the day birds in their struggle for freedom. Money Bags is aware of Arum Tidi's clever tactics. In a conversation with Red String, Money Bags expresses suspicions about Arum Tidi's actions and words (pg 42). This leads him to seek the help of the feared One-Eyed, and we later learn that Arum Tidi is killed because Money Bags perceived his cunningness.

However, the most clever group is Oyundi's team. Oyundi and her allies pretend to support the Parliament of Owls and Royal Owl's wishes while secretly plotting to overthrow them from power. She shares her plans with her surprised allies (pg 81), claiming expertise in deception and referencing a cunning figure named Ogila Nyakarondo.

During Ochongorio's wedding celebration, Oyundi tells Red String (pg 85), "It's a shame Tel Tel is absent. But she's paying for her mistakes." Oyundi, despite Tel Tel being her close ally in custody, falsely suggests she deserves punishment to mislead her opponents. This tactic fools them into thinking Oyundi is on their side and causes them to criticize Tel Tel, when in reality, Oyundi sympathizes with her. By pretending to support the owls and delaying her true intentions, Oyundi waits for the right moment to unite her allies and overthrow the owls from power. She proves herself to be a clever and scheming leader.

 In the story The Truly Married Woman by Abioseh Nicol the main characters, Ajayi and Ayo, both pretend to be good, honest, and respectable, but in truth, they are not. They show one thing to the public but behave differently in private. This makes them hypocritical. First, Ajayi acts like he is a very religious and honest man, but this is false.  When power is misused by those in authority to advance their agenda and for self gain it leads to widespread problems for  the society. This essay will explore how Sidang highlights the negative effects of authority when it is misused, focusing on the impact on both individuals and the community. Money Bags uses the advantage of being the right-hand Owl of the Royal Owl to enrich himself. He is in charge of sponsoring all the bills forwarded by the Royal Owl .He is critical in decision making in the government of the royal owl. He sponsored the law that created Royal Trees,which legalised tree grabbing habit.(page 52). Because of this privileged position, Money Bags grabs every tree that will benefit him.
